Top tip – tourists overwhelm the big markets in the city centre while locals love the smaller markets. We visited on Boxing Day and managed to experience four of the more touristy markets, still an excellent trip but locals would tell you that their local market is the best one!

It’s a good idea to note that the street you’ll come across most often in Vienna is the Ringstraße (Ring Road). The city is split into districts, for example, the Innere Stadt (First District) where you will see lots of historic buildings like the State Opera House and Hofburg Palace.
